What's your favorite 22LR revolver for plinking?

What's your favorite 22LR revolver for plinking?

Based on the information online, I want a Ruger GP100 22LR.

This is my Ruger Wrangler. It's a lot of fun to shoot.

Ruger Super Single Six. Mine is the convertible, and has the 6.5" barrel.

Got it new over 30 years ago, and have shot less than two full boxes of .22WMR, enough for me to decide there was no point to the round for what it cost.

LOTS of .22LR have gone through it, I'm very happy with it as a .22LR.

Gotta be my S&W 617 with a 6" barrel. I'm fortunate to have an 8" and 4" as well but the 6" is my favorite for plinking.

I only have two 22's in my collection, but they both are a load of fun. An early eighties Ruger NM Single Six convertible with the LR and the WMR cylinders. The other is a 2004 Ruger Mark ll USA shooting team edition.

While I currently do not own a 22LR revolver, if I did pick one up for plinking I’d opt for a Ruger single action like the Single Ten or a Super Wrangler. I can’t see buying a double action for this as I’d be shooting it single action all the time.

If I want to squeeze off a bunch of rounds in rapid succession I’ll bring my S&W Victory or the Taurus TX22.

BTW, for the price of that GP100 you could darn near buy a Wrangler/Super Wrangler, Victory and a TX22.

Ruger SP101 with the 4" bbl. Had to do some work to get the DA trigger smooth, but now it's a lot of fun to shoot.

My next gun purchase will likely be the GP100 .22LR. Another 2 shots, a better trigger (more leverage in the larger design as well as the cylinder being on ball bearings instead of a friction bearing) a longer sight radius, and recoil should be essentially undetectable.

I'll need to make room first though. And deciding what to sell has been difficult.

I have always loved a 22 handgun. I'm a bit heavy on them, Colt Officers Model Match 22 S&W Model 17-3, S&W Model 41, and I had a Ruger MK4 I sold, and I regret that. Also had a 8 3/8 barrel Model 17-4 I sold. Thinning the herd ya know. My favorite is probably the Colt although I consider those 3 to be the holy grail of 22 handguns

My favorite .22 revolver is the S&W 617. The Ruger is not too bad but it needed a lot of fine tuning to get it smoothed out, it's big and heavy. The Colt is nice looking but after getting and returning 3 of them because of malfunctions I just got my money back. The Henry has a very smooth linear trigger but I wish it had adjustable sights.

I have 2 .22 revolvers, a Hi Standard Sentinel 9 shot and a Smith & Wesson Model 18 4".

Love them both in their own ways.

Since I only have one I guess I'd have to say my Ruger .22 Convertible gets the nod.

When it comes to revolvers, I have 3, a Smith & Wesson Model 18 4", a 617 4", and a Ruger Single-Six Convertible that I have never used the .22 mag cylinder. If I had to choose between the 3 I would say the Model 18 followed closely by the Ruger.

We have several “22 day” outing a year, especially when there’s snow on the ground & I don’t want to pick up brass.
They’re all fun, semiautomatic pistols, revolvers, lever action, but I’ve always liked shooting the Nylon 66.

I've owned dozens of 22 revolvers over the years, but only have two these days.

One is a Smith and Wesson 18-2 that is my pride and joy. It would be tough between it and my blue Colt Python for which would be the last one in the safe.

It has the factory TH, TT, and the diamond target stocks are verified as "factory" by the end label on the box, which is numbered to the gun also. Alas, there were no papers. I shoot it mostly double action and it is a joy to shoot. My last Smith and Wesson revolver.

And just a few weeks ago, I bought a Uberti 1873 in 22 LR. This is a six shot version, and has the firing pin on the hammer, which surprised me. I don't think I've ever seen that on a 22.

It's big and it's heavy...same size as a 45 saa...but with smaller holes in the cylinder and barrel, it too seemed to shoot just fine in it's only range trip. There will be more.

Only have one 22 revolver & while it’s an el cheapo it’s very special to me as it’s what got my wife back into the shooting sports.
She spotted it on a Saturday walk through a gun show & mentioned she thought the grips looked cool. I went back on Sunday & got it for her & went to work making a case to gift it to her in while I was waiting delivery of a WMR cylinder.
Gifted it to her on Valentines Day many years ago & it put her on the path to getting her CCW & now she’s a triple threat with pistols/rifles/shotguns. Best $120 I ever spent.
