The "self-healing" targets are pretty good, although they don't actually heal. I just shot a bunch of .22's at one, and of course, it now has holes in it. Should last a while, though.

I think I was wrong to get the cubes, because a .22 won't move a cube all that much. Sometimes it barely moves at all, so it's not always clear when I hit it.

My first ones were square. All since then are the small round orange ones. Shot em with 22, 223, 9mm, 380, 357, and 6.5 Grendel. They are starting to look a bit tattered, but have held together. Also, in our family shooting competitions, bragging rights are earned by how far you rolled the ball.

I pick up unbroken clay birds and shoot at them. Break a bird then shoot the chips till gone. The chips get pretty sporting after a couple hit and they are free,.

Get some

About ten bucks for ten of them. Temu.com has plastic caps with a rubber piece in them for a sports ball inflation needle. Save your empty soda bottles, pump them up to 100 PSI. They make a very satisfying bang when shot with most any projectile.
Handy hint: The caps have a hole for a tie down string, use it!
Honeycomb breakfast cereal makes a good target, hang them with a thread.

Ah yes, the good ole horse apple. I remember as kids, with our pellet guns, saving the world from these bad guys. Many an evil horse apple has met its fate due to a well placed shot from a Benjamin.

Great target

A Pandora moth hatch and a good airgun is hours of fun.

I drink a lot of "sparkling mineral water" (think Perrier or Pelligrino. Since those are carbonated, the plastic is much thicker than your basic bottle water; they can dance, but what I have done is place a washer and screw through a top with a string and a binder clip. I can attach it to the underside of the target stands at the range so it hangs freely and make it spin, swing and flop without having to chase it down. By the time one is done, I have finished drinking another one and off we go again

That's clever.

I used to hang electical switch backing plates from a string. In wind they twist so they only present a target intermittently. Even at 100 yards a rimfire bullet would impart too much force and within a few rounds the string would fail.

The bottle is a much better idea.

Golf

Perhaps the best use for golf balls, they are fun to shoot with and stand up surprisingly well to a couple 6 rounds of .22, darned hard to keep track of tho.

We've got this small 2" round yellow striped squash like thing that makes free targets. Was told the Indians (We had Apache, Utes and Commanches in this area) only ate them if there was nothing else.
