Ruger bisley conversion

I have a stainless 357 blackhawk I've been wanting to convert to the bisley grip. I have the frame, and screws. I know I need the bisley hammer, and trigger, but are there any other bisley specific parts I need? I wasn't sure if the hammer strut, spring etc were different.

I'd check the Ruger Parts list for commonality.

Best option is to sell or trade the Blackhawk and get a factory made Bisley model.

I had a Bisley Vaquero in .45 Colt. Nice gun but after nearly 40 years shooting the standard new model Blackhawks (with pachmayr grips) it just never felt quite right.

Get one factory made the way you want it, that way if it ever does go to Ruger, they will fix it. Ruger's warranty policy for the last several years has been to return the gun to the condition it was in when it left the factory.

If you convert your Blackhawk to a Bisley, and it has to go back to Ruger for any reason, odds are they will un-Bisley it, and you don't get a choice in the matter. You could talk to them and see if they will do the conversion, but I don't think they will. They don't have a "custom shop" set up like some other gun makers do. I don't know this from personal experience, I've never had to send any of mine back to Ruger for any reason, but I've been told that's what they do these days.

Good luck!

these guys are right about ruger putting it back to original....and they will not give you the parts they take off back....at least they didnt give my parts back...they told me it had to come back to me in original factory condition because of liability...ok.. you touched it and it has to be whole...lol...ok i guess

however....you could keep the original parts and if it had to go back to them for any service you could re-instal the original parts and send it to them...but there again if the originals have been altered in anyway ruger will change them out and toss the bad parts....well... bad to them

i have been here and done this so there ya go

just a thought

I don't think they make a stainless blackhawk bisley 357 with the 4 5/8...

I plan on keeping the original parts in case it does ever have to go back to ruger. So now to the actual question I asked...

If we couldn't get something we wanted, we modified what we had.

I would heat, bend the trigger and then repolish it. I suppose the same may be attempted with the hammer (but it won't look as good as a factory one).

A long time ago, I put a Bisley grip-frame on my .357 maximum Blackhawk. I did not replace the hammer or the trigger. It works fine. The revolver's name is "Mist" based on what happens when a Speer 146 gr. JHP bullet transits a ground squirrel at more than 1900 fps.
Sadly, that bullet has been discontinued and is now nearly unobtanium.
