I'm in the FNX-45 club, great weapon that can be carried hammer down or cocked and locked like the 1911. Its an excellent shooter for me and is a great host for my can.

XD Mod 2 here. For me, much more accurate and easier to shoot. I've owned a G22 for years and enjoy shooting it, I'm not a Glock hater by any means, but the XD is a MUCH better gun IMHO.

XDM-45 great grip structure for me. Reliable, and more accurate than I am.

I only own one polymer .45ACP, so favorite isn't quite the right word. My polymer .45 is a SIG P250 Compact. It handles recoil well, it is reliable and accurate. For a while it was my main carry gun when in a state where I can carry and it is still in my quick access safe by my bedside for home defense use.

Personally, I generally prefer 9mm and .40 for carry, and polymer is for light weight (and thus carry). Overall, I prefer steel and alloy framed pistols, even for carry when practical. My other .45s are an alloy (Scandium) 1st gen S&W 1911SC and an all steel Officer sized RIA 1911 Rock CS. My next couple .45s are also likely 1911s, though the SIG P220 is also on the wanted list. The only other polymers on my wanted list are 9mms and .40s.

HK45, FNP45. It's close for me so if price is considered the FN wins. Glock 21 is a fine choice as well.

Over the years, I've tried repeatedly to find my USP45 Tactical killer with no success. I own a Glock 21, S&W M&P45, XD45 Tactical, Taurus 24/7 OSS and have owned (and sold) an S&W SW99 and none of them have knocked the big HK off the top of the hill. I still need to get an FNX45 Tactical, Walther PPQ45 HK45 Tactical and a Ruger SR45 (possibly considering a Beretta PX4 Storm as well) to round out my polymer .45 auto collection. Maybe the king will loose his crown but so far, the USP is still tops in my book.

I prefer the FNX45. Everything you want, nothing you don't.

Only have two - this full size SR45 and the compact CW45. Both are better shooters than I and are great value pistols.

My vote is for my Glock 38 also, but I do have a Sig P250 also. Just shoot the G 38 better.

The FNX45 is a very nice pistol. Capacity like a 9mm and a grip like one as well - not all bricky and 2x4 like many double-stack .45s. Smooth shooting and can be carried cocked and locked or DA/SA. Definitely on the large side to conceal though.

Having said that, I don’t own any .45s because I can shoot twice as much 9mm for the same price, so all of my experiences with them are just from shooting other people’s .45’s.

Another vote for the FNX45. I have the "Tactical" and also mated with a Revolution 45 silencer. Absolutely awesome combo. Outstanding fit and finish and the FNX's are a very smooth shooting pistol. LOVE it. Flawless functioning with whatever ammo I run through it. Pricey, but WELL worth the money.

I love my HK45c Tactical. It's by far the most accurate pistol I own. First time shooting it I set up bowling pins at 25 yards. First 4 shots all 4 pins fell. I continued to empty the magazine and shot after shot I was able to keep the pins bouncing. I set them up again at 35 yards, same story. I cant say enough about how extreamily accurate and reliable this pistol is. Designed by Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn for HK. Both SF and 1911 guys. 100,000 round torture test without a part failure. The ergonomics and sights are amazing as well. The o-ring barrel helps with barrel to slide lock up. There is a reason why the SEALs use this pistol called the Mk24 mod 0 with an AAC suppressor and the Crimson Trace laser. It replaced the HK Mk23 as their offensive handgun of choice. Prices are dropping too. I have one at the shop that is like new with the box and 2 magazines for $849.99.

For those that own them, what's your favorite. With Hk dropping their prices the HK45 is becoming more realisticly prices and now is close enough to be in the conversation. I'm looking for a range toy primarily and a house gun, no plan to carry.

HK45. I own 2 and 1 HK45c. I would like another HK45.

Springfield Mod 2 .45 for the win! I shoot it better than my Mod 2 9mm, so the 9er is up for sale. Seriously, how can 13+1 .45 in a small package like this be beat? With two more mags of 13 on my hip I do believe that 40 rounds of .45 easily carried should be enough for just about any problem.

Great information on this subject guys and any gals that might comment.

I too have been kicking around the idea of a Polymer .45 ACP here lately, mainly for a Home Defense and truck defense gun. I am familiar with Glocks and Sigs in other calibers and I know what they are.

Just wanting to explore something different in a .45 ACP, like the FNX-45, H&K, and the Springfield XD pistols. Something with a pretty good capacity over 10 Rounds and so I know I will be looking at a fairly large pistol. I think the H&K and FNX probably have external thumb safeties, which wouldn't be a major deal breaker, but anymore I prefer no thumb safeties. Also I suppose the H&K and FNX are traditional hammer fired, non striker pistols?

I've got to mention I did see a torture test where a guy put the H&K USP, through, water, sand and mud and it performed like a champ. Don't know how accurate his testing was but it was very impressive, some other guns did fail. There again I am not saying his test was the most scientific test out there.

Anymore comments and pros and cons would be appreciated, I must thank rickmelear for starting this thread is very informative.
