Good deal on 00 buckshot?

Hey guys. I have a chance to buy some federal premium 2 3/4" 00 buckshot (12ga). It comes in a .50 ammo can, and has 175rds, for $100. Is it a good deal?

Thanks maxman894, I think I'll lose money on that deal, just from the gas to get me there.

That's a pretty good deal. That ammo is their F12700 load I believe, which does not have the flite control wad, but still is some fairly impressive patterning 00 buckshot.

Pattern from one of my 870's with an 18" cyl bore barrel looks like this at 7 yds:

and this at 15 yds:

Rantingredneck, thats a pretty good grouping. Another question: have you shot/heard anything about Hornady TAP 00 buckshot? also 12ga. I was thinking of picking up a box for just in case, but its a little pricy to be buying without knowing something about it.

Several online retailers have had that 175 rounds in an ammo can deal running lately. I think both ammoman.com and ammunitiontogo.com had some recently as well.

Hornady TAP Versatite/Federal LE Flite Control

Hornady TAP Versatite 8 pellet/1600 fps load, 7 yds:

15 yds:

Federal LE12700 Flite Control 9 pellet/1345fps load, 7 yds:

15 yds:

Both Hornady TAP Versatite and Federal LE Flite Control are good stuff.

I tend toward the Federal as I can get it in 250 round case lots from ammoman or ammunitiontogo for around $200.00 shipped usually.

It is quite a good price -- don't forget the can. I need it like a hole in the head and still indulged. At the time it didn't sell out in less than 3 days that I saw, ever.

And it is good buckshot ammo -- doesn't group the size of a softball at 15 yards!

The cans are quite expensive, if I remember correctly, from looking at them other places. They can be used for a multitude of tasks, including storing other ammo! Quite convenient to have.
