Barnes tipped TSX bullets

I am starting to reload the Barnes tipped TSX bullets in 130 grain and 150 grain for my .308 Winchester rifle. Barnes does not post very much load data. Does anyone have additional load data for this bullet? I have Varget powder right now but not opposed to changing powder if needed. Also this load is for hunting deer.

Thanks

I just worked up a load with both Varget and IMR8208

8208 was easier and better.

8208 46.3 Grains [loading is 42-48.4] Hornady 8th ed.
Lapua Brass new Trimmed
CCI Mag Primer (250)
Barnes TTSX 130's
2.70-2.695 col

2950+ FPS

after seating depth is determined, Lee factory crimp die. This is into the last groove of the Bullet shank. You will never have bullet movement. Stable in Winter or summer.

Nice group! Thanks for the load. I'll try it and see how it works in my rifles.

Barnes has PDFs on their website with load data for usually two different powders per bullet weight for each cartridge

But, they also publish a book which, IIRC, lists loads for at least a few more and different powders than the free PDFs give you.

A Gamehog, that is one serious crimp. Does it affect case life to crimp that much? Think I will be getting a Lee factory crimp for my 223.

I have not had many rounds thru this gun to give a educated answer to the case life. It's not a severe crimp but it does increase pressure , hence the low powder load. It's really moving but I have not used a chrono on it yet. I shot a Badger while setting up for a coyote calling session and it was DRT. I used Hornady and Lapua brass to work this load up with OCW testing.

If Varget is the powder you currently have then I'd give that a try! No reason to purchase a different powder when you already have one that could work. I have been considering loading up some of the 130gr TTSX's for my 30-06. Let us know how yours turn out.
