.308 Win powder

What powder do you prefer for loading the .308 Win, with 168 match bullets(or equivalent)?

Since my primary .308 Win is a Garand....

IMR 4895 is the default powder.

Especially with 168 grain HPBT.

I've only used 4895 in my 7.62X51 loads so far. I may try some Winchester in the near future.

I've tried every powder listed, plus H-380, BLC-2 and Reloder 12, but I tried Varget and so far, I'm pretty satisfied with its consistancy in varying temperatures-something I can't say about the others listed. Of course, I'm using a bolt gun which gives me much more flexibility than a gas action where its wise to watch port pressure.

Buy a keg. WC846. It costs about $10 per pound and is almost identical to Ball(C)2. If you want less temperature sensitivity, get surplus 4895 for $12 per pound.

IMR 4895, new favorite.

Used to be 748 and 4064, though.
