870 Magnum Express Barrels?

Just picked up an 870 Magnum Express for all around use. Need to know if barrels for the "standard" 870 will fit this model (3 1/2 vs 3 inch chamber) The Remington website states that "parts are not interchangable" but are barrels considered parts?

For what its worth I have a Mossberg for HD so in the Mossberg vs Remington I have to say I like em both...

Checked the FAQ on the Remington page and it indicates that all barrels within gauges of the 870s are interchangable.
