which threaded barrel for suppressing full size 1911
Hey guys,
Just got my first pistol can an octane 45 which is of course very exciting Was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a threaded barrel which would fit a full size kimber custom TLE 1911 in .45acp? I have had this pistol for years and it is by far my favorite so Im hoping I can find a decent 1/2x28 threaded barrel without paying $200+ Your ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated! |

Companies like Jarvis, Storm Lake, and KKM make good 1911 threaded barrels, though I'm pretty sure they cost more than $200. If you're looking for a decent barrel for cheaper, try Lone Wolf.
Keep in mind that you'll almost certainly have to have it fitted. And you're not going to be able to find one threaded in 1/2x28 for a .45, they'll be threaded in .578x28.

^^^ Agreed. 1/2x28 is not possible for a .45 caliber barrel. The groove diameter is .450" + .004". The minor diameter for a 1/2x28 thread is .4562". That leaves potentially a barrel with the threaded portion having walls that are only .0011" thick.
Unpossible. |
