Conversion Barrel Help
Hello everyone. Just got my first handgun recently a Glock 27. I have had no problems with it but was interested in a conversion barrel, probably a Lone Wolf .40 to 9mm. I was wondering a few things that hopefully you all can help me out with.
- How suitable are these conversion barrels for CCW? I ask this only because if it's not good enough to protect my life, how much can I trust it? - Is the chamber better supported? I have had no problems with the stock Glock .40 barrel yet (The pistol was originally my father's and he's put tons of rounds through it) but have heard countless reports of kabooms and just wanted to know if the aftermarket barrel is better supported? - Are they really able to handle reloads? Lone Wolf says they are but I want to know real life experiences from TFL members. Thanks for any insight you can provide. |

I also have a G27. I bought a Lone Wolf .357 Sig barrel and it works perfectly. The .357 round is amazing! Absolutely no hesitation to carry it.

LWD barrels are made for reloads, especially with lead bullets.

They are covering there A**. Any manufacturer will say the same because they have no idea what you are doing with your reloads: hot loads, accidently double charging a round. They do not want the liability with folks using there product and using there own home rolled ammo.

No manufacturers recommend using reloaded ammo. That is true for ALL guns and barrels.
I would highly recommend a Storm Lake conversion barrel. These are quality stainless steel barrels with fully supported chambers made right here in the USA, and you can get them at reasonable pricing. For example, Midway sells them for only $135 For converting Glock 27 to 9mm: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=935826 For converting Glock 27 to .357 Sig: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=686704 You can also order custom barrel lengths, and porting or threading options if you order direct from Storm Lake. Here is a link to their website: http://www.stormlakebarrel.com/barrels . . |

So are Storm Lake and Lone Wolf comparable? I'm really looking for some insight into my questions. Would a Storm Lake be safe for CCW or would you carry an aftermarket barrel in your CCW?
