.308 norma magnum

I inherited about ten boxes(20) for this cartidge and I dont have a gun for it, although they fit my .300 win mag. is it safe to shoot?

Not advisable...

But they can be used in a .30-338.

Hmmm . . . as long as the bullets are proper diameter, and the neck of the cartridge at least enters the neck of the chamber, why couldn't a shorter belted magnum be fired in a longer chamber? Headspacing will be on the belt, after all. Velocity and pressure will be down, and if you fire a LOT of rounds, you may see some erosion in the neck of the chamber, but isn't this the basic way cartridges are fireformed?
