I will soon be fitting an optical aiming aid to my SPAS 15 and I was wondering what would be best for 100-150 yard target shooting (no live targets). I have a cheap-ish 3-9x40 scope which I've used on an inaccurate pump gun, but I'd be interested in seeing how well the SPAS 15 performs as the barrel is permanently fixed to the receiver.

The scope I have is kinda long for the SPAS, I was thinking a nice short red-dot would look neater, but how can I get the best accuracy if the dot is (say) 4 moa?
Does a smaller dot necessarily mean a smaller group?

...and if I end up getting a red-dot, who makes the best quick-detach mounts, and what price should I expect to pay.
Many thanks for your replies.
