7.62x54R using R15

Using once fired PRVI Partisan brass, CCI 200 primers.

Two different bullets:

Sierra Match King .311 in 174 gr fmj hp

Speer Hot-Cor .311 in 150 gr hunting rounds

Mosin 91/30 ie 28 inch barrel

Had problems finding IMR 4895 so I got Alliant Powder Reloader 15. My question is where should I start at as low base load and slowly move up ?

I was thinking 45 gr of R15 for the 174 gr bullets, and 47 gr for the 150 bullets ?

That is an interesting problem.

I think this is from Lyman #48
7.62x54r with 174gr bullet Re15, starting 42.0gr. max 47gr.

Wish I could be more helpful with the 150gr bullet, but my best guess would be that a 14% lighter bullet would look like maybe a 5% increase in max charge weight, which would be 49.3 grains max (44.4gr start), but that is just a guess on my part.

Good luck, hope this is helpful in some small way.
