Bob SLED bad news?
Recently received and installed a new RRA Varmint Upper 24".
Wanted to shoot this setup in matches where slow-fire single rounds are required. I have an AR15 Bob SLED that I had planned to use for this course of fire, but the RRA upper came with this warning note attached: My DPMS LR308 did not include this warning, and I have used a .308 Bob SLED with that rifle for several matches and it worked perfectly. It is not a magazine. I just lay the round on the fixed, solid platform of the Bob SLED (through the ejection port), and release the bolt to let it fly forward, pushing the round off the platform and loading it into the chamber. So does this warning apply ONLY to like manually stuffing the round into the chamber? But by not doing exactly that, and instead using the Bob SLED loading technique, therefore it's okay?

magazine load only
Seems to be a new standard warning. Last 4 Rock River uppers I received came the same way. Manufacturers are playing the CYA card in case of slam fires.

That bolt flies forward a lot faster if it's not hindered by stripping a round from the mag.

Yes. A true statement.

I use a cheaper single shot adapter, just a raised follower that goes in a magazine body but accomplishes the same thing. It works fine, as do all the others I have seen.
You might want to use the tough CCI military primers to guard against slam fires. |

I have not seen those. Can you share a source or vendor that sells them?

Here is a white plastic single shot adapter.

Well, but...you're only gonna use the sled at a range, right? And you're going to be following all range rules, and all gun safety rules, right? Therefore, a slamfire will harm no one - go for it.
