44 mag brass...seriously?

44 magnum brass selling for 22-25 cents each? I realize the brass is a little longer than say, 40 S&W or 45 acp...but sheesh! I'd have to be desparate.

It is more expensive because it is revolver brass of which 0 drops on the ground.

I pick up revolver brass whenever I can because...

1) I reload and have a lot of revolvers
2) you don't see that much of it
3) big bore brass is like finding quarters on the ground

I also pick up brass for guns I don't have and use it for trading, esp. rarer stuff like .32ACP and .32 S&W Long.

Given what it costs over here, I'd snap it up at that price!!

100 Starline brass: €30, exc delivery!

Looking over at starline brass site 44Mag Brass :

500 for $96 or 19 cents a round
1000 for $168 or 17 cents a round

A bit cheaper and they last for a lot of reloads.

Boy, just noticed they aren't letting you backorder due to high demand!!!! What's up with this? both .45 Colt and .44Mag!!!! Interesting. Never saw this before. Who would be ordering so much brass????

I have nothing but praise for Starline brass. I got 500, 44 Mag 6 months ago and its very good quality but, I went to look at their prices and noticed that they have 44 mag and they’re taking no orders or back orders.

I pick up all straight wall 'revolver' cases I find in the local privately owned, (but open to anyone who respects the place) absolutely free shooting range...In a two year period:

Appx. 2000 .38spcl
About 500 .357
About 200 .44spcl
About 100 .44mag
Six .41mag cases
And exactly One .45 Colt...

Tells me a lot about who shoots what, and about who does not let their brass hit the ground...

I don't even bother with the thousands upon thousands of 9mm, .40S&W, .223, etc., that litter the ground...

No. A basically similar looking case from a casual glance, but the 44-40 is actually a bottle-neck case and very different from .44 Spl or .44mag. The 44-40 is a low pressure cartridge designed for black powder and has much thinner case walls than .44 brass. Data for it is available on line or in the many reloading manuals.

44 magnum brass selling for 22-25 cents each?
That would be a good price, if you didn't have any. Today I paid 28 for fired brass and 31 for new Starline, both including shipping. I was glad to find it. Ever shopped for 44 Magnum brass?

But now I probably will never need to buy 44 mag brass again. That caliber hardly has my undivided attention.

Everything I bought two years ago is a steal in today's terms. Like real estate, it's always a good time to buy, done wisely.

but the brass lasts for a lot of reloads, so your price is moot

Wow.

The more I think about it, the bigger the favor my buddy owes me for giving him about 100 .44 mag cases the other day because I was tired of them taking up room.

No one has mentioned yet that NEW .44 brass costs more because there isn't nearly as much of it made in a production run as other calibers. There's such a thing as scale of economy in manufacturing which means the more of something you make, the less expensive per piece it is. Once fired brass kinda comes under the same rule.

'New' for hotties; 'used' for everything else.

41 Mag is what sits up here.

I do note that you now seldom find any rifle brass on the ground. Seldom did find revolver brass even before and 9mm is still ubiquitous and easy acquired.

I picked up some PPU 30-06 the other day from young guys firing semi auto Remington. Other than that even the obvious non re-loaders are keeping it.

Its not about what it cost to make, its what you can get for it.

Probably something in between. You would think mfgs would jack price of everything up and should, then the panic would subside and it would drop back down.

Ahh well, do your best and hope it drops back to normal at some point.
