Couple of New Pics of My 45 Colt Levers I Thought I'd Share

I didn't like the old pics I had of my Uberti 45 Colt levers I took back in 2013 laying on the carpet, so a few months back I took a couple new ones outside 'in the wild'. I think they turned out nice so, on this cold wintry day, I thought I'd share as a nice picture of a good looking firearm warms my heart.

My Uberti 1873 Special Sporting Rifle:

My Uberti 1866 Yellowboy Carbine:

Both are fun shooters and with my 255grn X-Treme plated handloads they both feed slick as snot and shoot great. I chrono'd my most recent handloads last September and it turns out that my Rifle produces 1,209fps with them while my Carbine produces 1,163fps. I was a bit surprised that with a load of Unique powder charge in an 'under 14,000psi load', the bullets are still accelerating even out of the 24" barrel.

Both leverguns are great fun out in the woods with my Uberti Cattleman SA Army, also in 45 Colt but shooting some 255grn Elmer Keith style hardcast lead bullets, strapped to my hip.

If you haven't tried Uberti's cool flip sight on their carbines, you're in for a treat. Folded down it works fine when sighted in for 100yds with my 255grn full power standard pressure 45 Colt loads.

Flipped up it's a great 3 in 1 sight as the notch at the bottom of the oval is great for 200yds, the center works for 300yds, and the v at the top works for 400yds.

very nice Steve. I have the Uberti Henry and The 1873 in .45 colt. Fun to shoot and easy to reload for.

Those are some nice looking rifles you have there. I have a Marlin 1894 Cowboy 45Colt and if yours are like mine are a pleasure to shoot. I always have a smile when I get to take it out for some exercise. That flip sight is a pretty sweet idea.

Very Beautiful rifles. Lever are my favorite shooting to do. I Love to plink from 25 yards at my steel plates shooting off hand. Just plain fun.
Those two rifles of yours would be excellent fun.

Really appreciate this post. I've been looking at .45 LC levers for some time, a bit at revolvers. I want an older production firearm under the impression quality would be better. Never owned an Uberti and an wary because of it not being established like traditional brands though I've never read anything horrible about them, but understand the Taylor/Uberti offerings are said to be better? They look like really nice guns and the style I want.

Are the Uberti/Taylors better than the new Marlin/Remington guns as far as quality, fit and finish?

I'd really appreciate feedback fro owners and those in the know. I want a quality lever, maybe a revolver down the line. But feel like I'm wandering in the dark not knowing what I'm looking at, or if they are a gun that will get passed down. Fit and finish, function? Accuracy? I read so much about how many new revolvers need work out of the box, are these the same?

Uberti has been making very fine replicas since 1959. I have a .45 Henry (brass receiver) I've been trying to sell. Also have an 1873 in .44-40. The fit and finish is extremely good. The quality, in my 42 years of gunsmithing, is far superior to Marlin/Remington. Function is excellent and the gun shoots, like most, better than the shooter.

You'd not be disappointed in owning any Uberti, in my opinion.

Thanks jgns. Those are strong words of praise. If fit and finish are good and shoots better than me (not too hard), I'll be happy. Din't realize they'd been in business that long.

Maybe it didn't come thru but both my .45 Henry and Winchester 1873, .44-40 I'm selling are Uberti replicas.
I enjoyed shooting them so much I am now investing in the real macoys (Winchesters).
