A good sign?

Was at Scheels in Springfield IL today and they had wait for it . . . pistol ammo on the shelves!!! Rifle ammo too. The pistol ammo I saw was for bigger guns, 357, 44 mag etc, but the prices were okay.

I'm going to be the optimist and take this as a sign that the demand is slowing down.

Article in Shooting Illustrated (March 2021) titled "Great Ammo Shortage Explained" calls this a "super demand" not a shortage adding " . . . this is the most demanding market in history . . ."

Article notes that there are 7 million new gun owners (wow), that Remington's bankruptcy proceedings slowed them down to a stand still, but they are up and running again, and that all the ammo manufacturers at full capacity including working three shifts.

Life is good.

A couple of months ago, I could hardly find any ammo at any price online. Now I occasionally see ammo, including 9mm, for sale, albeit at high prices. So, maybe things are calming down—-until some unfriendly legislation rears its head.

This is good too. Hopefully they are from both sides of the aisle so there is less appetite to restrict our rights.

We are starting to see more ammo available, due in part to Remington being back in production. Remington makes about 25% of the ammo in the USA from what I read.

I was at bass pro last week, they had 22lr. 400rnd bricks of browning for 38 and 100rnds of cci mini mag for 15. 200rnds per customer max (or 1 box larger than 200). I got the 400rnd brick...

I hope so. It would be nice to resume practicing rather than stacking them as if they were blocks of unobtanium.

Things seem to be a little less crazed in my local gun shop these days.
Ammo is slightly more plentiful and customers seem a little less frantic.

Went to academy yesterday to look for replacement parts for my water containers , and decided to check if anything was available . The shelves were still completely empty including shotgun shells, reloading components were empty as well, not even a shell holder to be found.

My nephew frequently visits the local Scheels for loading supplies and looking at guns. A couple weeks ago he texted that Scheels had small rifle magnum primers. Then today they had small pistol primers when he was there. So there are some primers hitting the stores. With the proposed gun control legislation it wouldn't be surprising to have an extended "shortage."
