Best bullet type/weight for hog hunting
Ok, I got my scope mounting for my 454 Super Redhawk yesterday and I'm going to site it in this weekend. My plan is to go hunting for wild boar with my dad soon and this is the gun I'll be taking. I want to start practicing with the ammo I'll be hunting with so there are no surprises.
In looking at bullet weights and types vs piggies, I was thinking a Hornady 240grn hollowpoint is what I would want to use considering it's coming out at 1,900fps, and I'm thinking penetration won't be a problem in a pig, and I'll more need expansion. Is this correct school of thought, or am I looking at it wrong? What would you guys suggest? |
