Leupold Rifleman 3x9x50 scope

I just offered to buy this brand new scope. Two of them are on another boards classified. For $175 (doesn't have box) I wanted a 3x9 so I jumped. Anyone have any experience or info (other than what I read on the Leupold web site. Can it handle up to 308 recoil?

Yes, it'll handle the recoil from a 308 Winchester and much more. You'll be very happy with your purchase, Leupold puts out a quality product.

Thanks for the info. Currently, it will see paper punching service on a LE6920-MP, until I can save for a longer barreled A10 platform. Just to try it out, I may also put it on Belarus QR mounts for an AK47 or AK74. What rings would you recommend, considering the 50mm needs to clear the rail? Will probably rest on the Colt M4 for awhile.

You need the same mount or rings that you need for any 1" tube scope on an AR. Look at the Burris PEPR or something similar.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say pass on it. I love Leupold scopes and I've got about half a dozen of them myself but the Rifleman is their bottom of the line scope and it isn't worth the money. Basically it is a $75 quality scope with an extra $100 in price to pay for the lifetime warranty.

Spend just a little more money and move up to a VX-1.

Too late. USPO enroute this morning; figured I couldn'd go wrong with a Leupold. I am a novice when it comes to scopes and to the AR platform. I'm sure putting this scope on this platform is "goofy". But it will be for punching holes in paper for fun. Is there a QR type mount available? I'd like to be able to put it on and take it off the rail quickly; it is a factory Colt LE6920-MP. Thank you all for your replies.
