The New Remington 870 Express Tactical With XS Rail GRS
Remington 870 Tactical Express Model # 81198
Action: Pump Gauge: 12 GA Barrel Length: 18 1/2" & 20.5" with breacher tube Choke: Rem Chokes- Cylinder ported breacher tube Sights: New out XS rail ghost right sights combo & big white dot front Capacity: 6 + 1 Chamber: 3" Length: 39" Weight: 7 1/2 lbs Drop: 1 1/2" @ Comb & 2 1/2" @ Heel Stock: Synthetic Finish: Black Oxide Retail right now: around $450 I received a few of the 870 Express Tactical GRS shotguns last week and I like what I see. This shotgun is hell of a deal for anyone looking for these type of features on an 870. In my opinion Remington hit home run with this model 870 shotgun. I don't have pictures to show because I need a new camera. The sights and rail are made by XS. They are nice, very low profile and adjust for windage and elevation. 1/2 turn of the GR aperture moves the impact 1/2" @ 25 yards. It comes with: *XS Adj GRS & rail combo Big white dot front *Barrel tapped for choke tubes *Ported Breacher choke tube *receiver drilled & tapped *Factory +2 tube ext kit *Black Oxide finish *870 Tactical on the receiver *SpeedFeed LE forend *New 870 polymer stock Remington is now putting on their 870 shotguns The after market cost for all the added features. 870 Express with factory tube extension about $340 now. XS rail GRS combo - probably around $125 Ported choke tube - $50 Choke tubes install on a shotgun barrel - $50 SpeedFeed LE forend- $15 Drill and tap for scope mount- $60 Total = $300 + $340 = $640 The 870 Tactical Exp GRS is an excellent deal. It offers more than the 870P GRS shotguns at a better price. If I personally owned one I would sale the ported Breacher choke tube and get some of my money back. Looks like a great shotgun and a great deal but what is it with these standoffs?

My only issue with shotguns like this, is that the rear sight and rail limit the use of any other barrel. Which to me, limits versatility and therefore, the whole reason to have a shotgun.
Wouldn't the rear sight/rail combo ruin the sight picture of another barrel like a 20" rifle sighted or a vent rib field barrel?

I am not a hunter or a clay shooter so this shotgun is of interest to me. If I were looking to buy a Tactical HD 870 this is the one I would buy. GC Last edited by MAX100; January 13, 2009 at 03:15 PM. |

do you have a part number and / or source for the XS Rail combo? I have a 870 Tac that is already tapped and wouldn't mind to have that rail/grs combo.

The rail GRS Set hasn't hit the market yet. I am sure they will be available soon. Call XS sights. GC |

I held and played with one of these the other day at my local dealer, the gun is o-k, I would much rather spend the extra $200+ and get the Marine XCS Magnum, might as well get the real deal...

The 870 XSC is $270 more. It cost $718 at Buds Gunshop. What do you get for your extra $270? The Express Tactical offers more feature than the Marine XCS. The XSC has a better finish & SpeedFeed stock that's all. Marine XSC shotgun: GC Last edited by MAX100; January 17, 2009 at 12:01 PM. |
