My favorite 3" revolver was a S&W M36. My ex CCWed it for a while.

Ruger LCRX 3" 38sp, +P. Feels real good in your hand, recoil is stout but if I can handle it at 80yrs old, all you "Kids" should be able to. It has great adjustable sights, and very accurate.

3-inch Revolver

I may get a 3-in .357 one day for my VT glove compartment.

I’ve got one of those delightful police trade in model 10’s with firing pin on the hammer. 3 inch square butt with a BK grip (like Tyler T grip). Love everything about it

I'd have to guess that most revolver sales currently are LEO trade-ins.

Otasan, Go to GB and you will find untol numbers of revolvers for sale that were not on recent police/security/prison guard trade in’s.
I purchased a Smith 64-6 from SOG that was in excellent condition, locked up like a vault, displayed little exterior wear and is very accurate. Some of the trades are beat to death so one should purchase cautiously (mine was a LE trade in).

Right now it would be my USFA Sheriff's Model in satin nickel. 45 Colt of course.

What's your favorite 3" revolver?
One with a 2", or 4" barrel.
3" barrel revolvers never made much sense to me.
With the exception of the one I have. An early 20th century S&W 32 "lemon squeezer". 3" just seems right for that small frame.

My 3” GP100 seems to be one handgun I just can’t miss with...if I can see it, I can hit it out to 100yds. The trigger is about as good or better than my well used Model 15.

657-4 with a matte finish. A nice companion piece for the pair of 657-4 Mountain Guns.

Favorite...but don’t own.

I’d love one of those “combat length” Pythons, but I don’t have a spare $8k for a factory one, or a spare $2k for a California conversion...

A police turn-in S&W M65. It was listed as Poor condition when I got it. Broken grips, totally scratched up, rust in the frame. Nearly all the scratches buffed out, rust was removed, grip replaced. It is very accurate and has the smoothest trigger than any of my many handguns.

Only own two 3 inchers - 629-4 3" & 624nd 3" LHS.
I'd have to say that the 629 gets shot more but, with .44Spl.'s. Full house .44Mags., out of the 3" barrel, is like holding onto a grenade. Very functional but, not very enjoyable.

LCR lets you get a good full grip. Good adjustable sights and weighs next to nothing.

I have three that will not be on my sell list anytime soon.
  • GP100 38 converted to 41 Special, adjustable sights
  • S&W 60-10
  • S&W 36-1 nickel

I also have a 60-15, reserved for jacketed bullets, and a 30-1 (32SWL), which guards my safe mostly. Then there are the SP101s in 32 H&R, 327, and 357, preferring the 32 H&R.

My father in law has a 3" .357 magnum of the SP101 variety that's fun to shoot.

Probably my 65. It's nothing special, really, just an utterly utilitarian gun that carries and shoots well. 3" K-Frames are my thing, and I own several, but this one is regulated perfectly for the load I carry in it.

Ruger GP 100 in .44 Special. Think Skeeter Skelton load of a 240 grain LSWC at 950 fps.
