Loewe Berlin??
I found an old barrel in my grampas basement and the only thing I can read on it says Loewe Berlin and I think it reads 1887? Any info on this gun would be much appreciated.

Ludwig Loewe of Berlin was a pre-WW1 military rifle built, who built the early Peter-Paul Mauser rifles.
In 1896, Ludwig Loewe joined with a cartridge company and became DWM, who built Mauser rifles and pistols until the end of WWII. With a date in the late 1880's it's likely a barrel from a German Model 1888 rifle. This was the first German smokeless powder rifle, and was in 7.9mm, often called the 8mm. |
