Jesse James Defense Ammo
I keep seeing these nifty-looking blacked-out hollow points all over the interweb but haven’t been able to find any expansion or ballistics data.
Cool looking black/grey HP defense rounds offered in most calibers at a seemingly reasonable price. Anybody actually use these for defensive rounds or are they just another tacticool gimmick? |

I can't answer your question, but, I have this amusing story. I was in a gun shop in the Phoenix area last Christmas. Saw a box of Jesse James ammo, wrapped in shrink wrap, in a case with collectible ammo and other gun related antiques. He had a $100 on it. I had never heard of Jesse James ammo and asked about it. It is made in Scottsdale and a rep had come by and gave him the box of 45 Colt. The owner didn't know why anyone would buy this ammo over anything else available, so didn't order any. Then he wrapped it, put the C note price tag on it, and stuck it in the collectible case. "They'll probably be out of business in a year, instant collectible.", he said.

That's the same Jesse James who made Sandy Bullock cry.
Jesse James ammo is a brand name of AMMO INCORPORATED. It's just marketing for yet another plain old 115 and 124 grain HP. Bit slower than Hornady brands too. They have a peculiar idea as to what the term ballistics means, but their very limited charts are here. https://www.ammoinc.com/ballistics/

For reasons completely unrelated to ballistic performance, I would not carry these. Too many other good choices with better names, on the off chance I ever have to tell a jury what I was carrying.
