Proper procedure for caliber change
I have a Makarov PM which came to me as a commercial Russian chambered in .380 acp. I rebarrelled it to 9X18 in the interest of more reliable function. The slide says .380acp, so my question is: What is the proper procedure for marking the slide?
I am not super concerned as I currently have no plans to sell the gun, but I would hate for someone (my kids after I am gone) to end up putting a .380 in the 9X18 barrel. Is it enough to mark out/ stamp over the .380 or do I need to stamp the correct caliber on the slide also? |

I would stamp over or otherwise render illegible the. 380. A stamp on the visible part of the barrel should be sufficient, however, a slide stamp would remove any doubt for the next owner.

I hope you replaced the recoil spring as well; they used a lighter spring when they converted those guns to .380.

Yes, I went back to a standard power spring for 9X18.
I had a vast assortment of springs from trying to get it to run reliably in .380. |
