Walnut Stock
I have a Remington SPS Varmint in .243 that I would like to get a walnut stock for. I really don't care for the synthetic stock now on the rifle. I've searched the web, contacted Remington and really haven't had much success. What I'm looking for is along the lines of the stocks on the Remington M40, just a plain walnut stock for a heavy barreled rifle. I've looked at Boyds and Richards Microfit, Boyds doesn't have what I want and I've read some not so great reviews right here on The Firing Line about Richards.
Any suggestions? Thanks |

Try Macon Gunstocks, or Gunstocks, Inc. If they don't have it, they can make it. Gunstocks, Inc. generally has the better pricing, just do a Google search for either.

Don't spend more on that entry level design.
Instead use it as it is if it's accurate and stays sighted in. Otherwise look at other designs for CRF, better 3 position wing safeties and safer triggers than that model has. There is a recall on them. |

A quick look on Gunbroker shows a bunch of take offs in the $100 range. You'll probably have to hog out the barrel channel but that's no big deal.
