HELP: Marred AR Barrel

I marred my black phosphated (parkerized?) barrel when trying to swap out the flash hider.

Can anyone recommend a good product that will allow me to touchup the scratches? So far I have read about people using the following:

Aluma-Hyde II
Aluminum Black
Oxpho-Blue
Birchwood Casey Touchup Pen

Trying to find something that will blend the best. Thanks.

I guess I'm cheap.
I use a Sharpie marker for small nicks and scratches.
Just reapply after cleaning.
It is close enough that know one will notice unless they are really looking for something.

If you scraped it back to bare steel, any cold blue will darken the metal and obscure the scratch. If you just left a streak in the phosphate surface, rub it with oil.

I tried that initially, but it comes off so easy. Barely touching it would rub off the sharpie. I am also trying to prevent corrosion.

There are many phosphoric acid based rust removing solutions on the market. One is Jasco Prep and Prime, another is called Rust Killer. None of these are actually phosphating solutions but they will form iron phosphate on the surface (even with no rust), especially if warmed with a hair dryer. Oil after drying and your scratches will either disappear or at least be less noticeable.

Unless you have the barrel stripped and phosphated again, you won't get a perfect match.

But, if it's down to bare steel, most blue/black cold blues can be used to get a close color match. (Browning solutions or cold blue solutions on the brown side may not match well.)

When I chopped this FSB, I used Perma-Blue.
Three applications probably would have gotten a better color match, but two applications was close enough for me.
