Diameter of Stoney Point 22Cal Comparator.

Can someone that has a 22Cal Stoney Point insert tell me the diameter of the hole? I am going to make my own using a 1/2" stainless cube with a hole through the center of it. I will then put it between the caliper and bullet and it should work well and save me $25 plus shipping. If no one can give me the answer, I'm just gonna make it around .221" diameter. Thanks.

Thank you very much. I had no idea it would be that small.

I guess they wanted to make sure it would be safe with extra tight rifling. I checked it a 2nd time. It's mic-ing at .213 consistant.

If your talking about the hole in the comparator body where the insert goes it's .498. If your talking about the hole in the insert it's .212.

Right, the hole in the insert. I think I'm still gonna make mine around .221". Thanks guys.

I'm basically making something similar to this.

I would think that if you made it .221 that the insert would go over the whole bullet and not rest or hit on the bullet's ogive. This would defeat the purpose of the insert. Just a thought.

My bullet's ogive is .224" It should hit unless I get some seriously undersized bullets. I am going to make it .214" however, just so I'm not so close to the bearing surface. Thanks guys.

I had a great day at the farm today with some 53gr Hornady Match bullets out of my 22-250Rem. I'll post it tomorrow.
