Savage 111 W/ Accutrigger rear tang question

Does anyone know for sure if the rear tang should come fully free floated in it's factory synthetic stock? I've heard yes from some, and no from others on different forums. This is a 30-06 sporter barreled rifle I bought used and I can see where it used to have iron sights on it would this be the 111F model? Thanks!

The plastic factory stock has molded-in pillars. If the receiver is firmly against the pillars, the tang will normally float. If they didn't set it up that way, the tang's contact with the stock would prevent the receiver from seating solidly on the pillars.

Hi, thanks for the info! I took a dremel tool and tried free floating the rear tang it appears to be floating now but I think I will coat the tang with lipstick and reinstall just to make sure it is not still touching somewhere.
