AR-15 Loads Using CFE & Benchmark, What's Your Favorite?
Setting up some dies ect. for a 'Production' run using 55 & 60 Grain bullets (FMJ & V-Max),
Any of you guys have a favorite load for these using Benchmark & CFE? I know ARs can be twitchy about what they cycle, so if anyone has a favorite reliable load, please let me know what your AR likes best. Thanks. |

My favorite and most accurate load for my AR is 27.3 of cfe223 with a 55 grain Hornady soft point with oal of 2.230. This is a max load and I only shoot it in my AR, I do not shoot it in any 223 rifles, only 5.56 rifles with 5.56 brass.
Again this is a max load and needs to be worked up to in your own AR watching for any pressure signs. |

These were all fired at a 5-inch paper plate at 50 yards with a red dot non-magnified sight, 5 shots each using 55gr FMJ Armscor bullets, CCI small rifle primers, the OAL measured from the base to the ogive was 1.868":
1) CFE-223 26.0gr group 0.7145" 2) IMR 3031 23.5gr group 0.902" 3) H4895 25.0gr group 0.902" 4) BL-C (2) 25.0gr group 1.527" 5) Varget 25.0gr group 1.027" 6) IMR 8208XBR 23.5gr group 0.902" |
