In search of S&W Shield
Hello,
I am looking for a S&W Shield. Seems to be a very hard gun to find. Does anyone know where they might be in stock? Also looking to do a layaway on one. I know I can find one on gun broker, but we all know those prices can be ridiculous. |

I got lucky after a 2 month long wait and received a call from the LGS when mine arrived. Is there anywhere locally you can be added to a waiting list? Good luck....they are fine pistols.

Ha! Get in line man. It's in high demand right now. Great little gun too. Someone offered to trade me one in 9mm for my currently mangled Colt Series 70.
I had to decline. I saw one at the gun show here in Miami about 2 weeks ago. Sold for almost $600. |

Good luck man. Got mine about a year ago when a local store was having its grand opening, having moved to a larger location. They had four in stock and managed to snag one of them for a little over 400. Nothing but praise for the gun since I've had it.

Denise? Man? S&W?.....
Is the TFL member male? Is Denise a male name?
As for Smith and Wesson Shield pistols, Id check www.GunsAmerica.com or maybe www.GunsInternational.com . I've purchased 03 firearms thru GA with 0 problems. I've been a site member since Dec/2004. Prices & calibers may vary but 9x19mm and .40 are common. CF |

I just got back from my lgs to get some hoppes and brushes and they got a shipment of shields in 9mm and .40 today, quite a few of each actually. They also got 4 9mm shields last thursday but they were gone by saturday morning.
Theres a gander mtn gunworld about 45 minutes from my house and when i was there last month they had a waiting list of 33 people with no idea when any were coming in and they didnt get any for months beforehand from what i was told. So it looks like whatever distributor a store is going through makes quite a difference. |

Lol, no. I put that on layaway. But this one was for the wife. Yes, the wife...
Actually the shield does work really well for her. She has really short fingers and the slimness of it makes it very usable for her.

The first one was for my wife too, second is for me
Perfect size for her midget hands and she is pretty darn accurate with it as well! |

I bought Black Hills 124gr +P for it and that kicks things up a notch. Basically feels like you're shooting the Shield 40. I wouldn't recommend that round for your wife if she is recoil sensitive!

A first time buyer was looking for a 9mm Shield last week. The LGS clerk checked the shipment that had arrived that day and told the woman there were two in the shipment and she should come back around noon to check and no he couldn't save her one. On the way out she ran into a clerk she knew and told him she would be back to see if she could get one of the Shields. He assured her that when she returned there would be a gun waiting for her. Sometimes it's nice to have friends in not so high places.

I just saw a brand new Shield in 40 smith for $430 in a local gun store in Northern Virginia.
Super nice gun. Damn my finances-I just could not pull the trigger on a layaway. My revolver will have to do for now. |

Mine just came in after a few month wait. I put a deposit on it and got on the list. No way they were just going to be in stock.
Had a quick chance to run 50 rounds through and was flawless. Nice and slim grip and with the 8 rnd mag. my hands fit perfect. Very nice. Oh, from s.w. suburbs around Chicago. |
