I learnt shooting on a club owned Colt OMM and to this day love shooting revolvers. I prefer S&W and Korth now but still love wheelies!

It is one of 500 made in 1933 in a Colt factory parts bin cleanup. What the factory did was mate new obsolete Model 1909 barrels and cylinders to surplus Model 1917 receivers that Colt bought back from the U.S. government after WWI. They were sold through Shapleigh Hardware in Saint Louis, MO. While it looks like it was parkerized, the finish is blued over very fine bead blasted metal. This is not a factory finish as they were originally polished blue. What it looks like under close scrutiny, is that there was a bunch of fine pitting on the surface and a previous owner did the refinish. |

When I was a youngster around age 12 the First handgun I shot was a 22 caliber revolver. Over the years I have shot and owned several revolvers and semi's. I now have only one semi and seven revolvers. I guess that says I also have A Weakness For Revolvers

My weakness too.... I do like my Single Actions.... At this time I am 'content' as I have more than enough shooters to last a life-time or two from .22 to .45 Colt.
Have standardized on the big three .357/.38, .44spec/.44Mag, and .45 Colt/.45ACP with the .45 Colt being 'king'. BP wise, the Old Army rules ... Now if I could just get Jbar4Ranch to give up one his SS Old Army revolvers ... ha!

That said, the .44Spec is right up their too... but the .45 Colt is still the king. Last edited by rclark; November 29, 2012 at 01:18 PM. |

It's great to see people who are as crazy about wheelguns as I am.
I was into autoloaders back in the 70's....read too much Jeff Cooper I guess. When I got my CCP a few years ago and did a lot of research and thought about what I should carry I settled on a snubby .38. That got me started. Now I've got 3 D Specials, and Agent, a Cobra, a Model 10 2", 632, 642,442, 327 PC, 327 Nightguard, LCR, Kit gun, Model 15, Bodyguard, Single Six, 3 Troopers, and I'm just getting started. I handload .38, .357 and .32 mag. Revolvers are the adult handgun. |

Wow. You guys don't have an affection. You have a mania. As to the first post, that is probably the best; lucky number 13.
But the beauty and the display of all the guns. Spectacular. I sold everything I had, so I could start with all new guns. I have 2 pistols and 2 revolvers. I need to stabilize there for a while. dc |

One who has just come down with the Revolver disease should not view a thread such as this......
Utterly jealous.... Excuse me as I wipe the drool from my keyboard....

It looks as though I have added another to the herd. This came into my LGS the other day and since I am weak and have no real control I put it on layaway.
1978 S&W Model 29-2, unfired, with just the barest trace of a turn line. It is really much better (99.8%)than the poor lighting and lint on it in the picture shows. |

I no longer have the Model 28 w/6" barrel but I've held onto the 4" Model 28
Transitional M&P from 1947. 5" barrel. Serial number starts with an S. Good shooter. |

I did most of this in one year of revolveritis. I only owned two revolvers in the picture (S&W 642 and NAA mini on second row from bottom) in 2011.
Now, I have my local gun store calling me when interesting revolvers come in on trade. I can quit anytime I want. I SWEAR. |

lowercase,
Congrats on that very nice collection. Wow, all but two had over the course of ONE year . I think the most guns I ever bought in one year was 4-5 and I thought I was doing well...

Lowercase, that is an impressive collection for only one year. Congratulations on knowing that you can quit anytime.

Oh my God! (Tisk tisk) Those don't look very practical to me. (Wow is me) Can some please explain to me why you need so much firepower. (snivel) I don't see any sporting purpose with all those, those gawns. I believe in the 2nd Admendment, but, but, but....Well, in Europe and in Switzerland everything is so wonderful without those...those things.

Jeff #111,
that seems to be a Manurhin MR73 with Trausch grips in the lower right corner. That is one of the finest D/A revolvers ever made! |

<rant on> Oh, puh-leeze. No need for such drama & match delay. Those SOs need to grow some: After he re-holsters, simply give Jerry his DNF for the stage, then call the next shooter to the line. That's what would happen to anyone else, as the rules are generally very clear on this type of thing. <rant off> Back on topic: Yeah I have a weakness, too, but my collection's relatively meager. Thanks for posting some good lookin' irons, folks. |
