Is the Benelli SuperNova kind of a Winchester 1300 clone?
Just curious, I got to handle one the other day and am looking at one of the various clones of the 1300 out there and I'm not going to lie, this kind of fit the bill. Obviously there are probably some differences but I think it might be the same kind of operating system with the rotating bolt that unlocks itself on firing. Maybe it's just based upon and improved which I'd like. Just curious if anybody has taken both apart and noticed the similarities.

All pump action shotguns are more alike than different. The 1300 and Nova may have similar bolt heads, but other than that they are no more alike than any other pump shotgun. In fact I'd say the Nova incorporates more new ideas than any other.

The Nova/SN bolt head has 2 large locking lugs. I believe the Winchester 1200/1300/SXP series uses 6 smaller locking lugs.
Both incorporate the shell stop and shell interrupter with the trigger assembly unit. Mossberg 500 are loose and held in the receiver by the trigger assembly. Remington 870's are staked into the receiver. 1200/1300/SXP mag tube has plastic feed throats that can wear out. Nova/SN has steel skeleton receiver overmolded with "technopolymer". 1300/SXP is aluminum like the Mossberg. That's all I can think of at the moment. |

I am not a Nova fan, but I would not insult a Nova by calling it a 1300 clone.
