270 resizing problems

last night I had a bunch of trouble with the sizing die. I disassembled and cleaned it, but that was no help at all.

Cases keep getting stuck, and the case mouth is not belled enough to get the trimmer inside.

What would cause this to happen?

Ranger, I've ran into that a time or two.

If I where to guess, you're having trouble pulling the case back out of the die?

If so, my solution is: a cotton swab with a little lube, run it inside the case mouth so extraction over the expander ball goes easier.

Eventually, I got tired of the Q-Tip thing and bought a case neck luber. Now I only use the dry Mica, it works great and a tub of that stuff lasts forever.

if you are just loading for one rifle just buy a "neck sizing only die" then you don't have to worry about lubing any of the cases. about once every 20 cases or so I put just a bit of lube inside the case mouth to make it easier on the expanding plug of the die

Got a question to throw at ya and something for ya to think about.
How many times have you sized these cases?
If you have full length sized them a few times they may be becoming "work hardened" which it kinda sounds like might be happening. This is caused by working the brass numerous times and can make the mouth and shoulder "hard" per say. Cases can be annealed, or heated up to where the brass is soft enough to "flow" again.

If they are hard going up into the die, then you need to use more lube. I use Imperial Case wax after having several stuck cases using a variety of the spray lubes.

As stated above, you probably don't need to be FL resizing and if you didn't use a case gage to set the die, it's probably not set right anyways.
