Norinco Shotguns

Spotted a new Norinco 'tactical' today, 20" (I think) barrel ghost ring sights, full stock. Was told it's basically a 870 clone and most parts, at least cosmetic ones, will interchange. They want $199 out the door.
They've also got a used 870 and a some new Mossbergs (blue & stainless)
Why do I need one of these? I don't need one, just want one.

Comments & suggestions welcomed.

Go for the used 870.

Get the 870.

Political considerations aside, a used 870 is made from metal up to standard, has an unmatched rep for durability and reliability, has a host of aftermarket stuff, and parts will be available well into the next century at least.

The Chocom clone has none of the above.

Over on some handgun forums, I've seen that some Norinco semi-autos (I think a 1911 copy ??) are very desireable. Good quality and all that. At least, that's what they say.
Yet with shotguns the opinion is that Norinco's are POS.

What's the truth? Strictly, a quality issue. Leaving the politics out of it, for the moment.

The 1911 was unrefined, but boasted a forged frame and slide. Good guns. Being conservative, most of us shy away from Norinco's long guns after so many folks got burned by the M1A clones. Those were soft and battered themselves to pieces quickly.

With the glut of police trade-in 870s demand for inexpensive HD shotguns dropped.

I know probably 75 people by name who shoot and noone has a norinco, so no recommendation here.

I'm also not going to buy one. I'll bee more than interested to see what happens to folks who do purchase one.

Like H&K, parts may be impossible to obtain.

FWIW

I have "commercial" Norinco SKS-M, and it is FAR better built than any of the military ones...I mean its not a $2000 custom gun but actually very well made, good fit and finish, utuerrly reliable

Won't be any of them in my safe in the immediate future. Wife reminded me that car tags, taxes & insurance was due this month. With two teenage drivers and four vehicles "Stuff I want" will be replaced by "Stuff I need".
