45 ACP AR Pistol Build
Showing off my newest little monster. It is an AR-15 pistol in 45 ACP. It has a Palmetto slick side upper that I enlarged the ejection port on. A Wilson 10.5 inch barrel with an Aero handguard. MVB Industries magazine well adapter that uses H&K carbine magazines, although I'm using ProMag mags. The bolt is from JSE Surplus but is not identified by manufacturer. Brownells pistol buffer tube and a KAK industries buffer and spring, SIG arm brace. Bushnell red dot. Mil-Spec lower parts kit of unknown origin. Most of the parts were ordered from JSE on sale, around Christmas time.
I was anticipating a troublesome performance but it feeds and fires just fine. One inch groups at 25 yards and only slightly larger (1.25 to 1.5 inches) at 50 yards using 230 grain hardball. I occasionally get a misfire from a light primer strike, because these have a spring loaded return on the firing pin to prevent slamfires. I believe maybe cutting a coil off the return spring or installing an extra strong hammer spring will fix that. |

I wonder what the difference is between the velocity of that over a 5" stock 1911. I recently cut 1" from the barrel of a 1911 I had considered threading for a suppressor, the ten shot average came down 10 FPS, I expected more like 50.
