Powder and Primers....
I paid a visit to my (relatively) local gun/reloading supply shop. They didn't have everything but they had most of the popular powders in stock in 1lb and a few in 8lb jugs. Plenty of primers to be had also....some off brand stuff but I was after CCI's and found small rifle and large rifle magnum.....just what I was looking for.
I was running low on 748 and picked up a 1lb jug of that....they had an 8 pounder but I wasn't sure I needed that much so I left it for someone else....lots of 1 pounders on the shelf. I picked up a pound of BLC(2) to try out....I've never used it before and was curious what it could do in my 223. The prices are pretty steep compared to some of the old stuff I have on the shelves but I'm just happy to find some of the things I could use. The last time components ran short I was ready and this time is no different. There will be a decent "buffer" on my shelves from now on. I could have wiped the place out of a few things but I'm an opportunist. I just buy what I can use and leave the rest and hope that the next guy does the same. We're all in this together.... Here's a pic of some components that I purchased over time....notice that they've gotten much more expensive. I'm sure some of you have stuff that was even cheaper!....the price progression is pretty apparent. |

The highest of those prices are LESS than I would have paid locally BEFORE the panic.
