New Competitive Shooting Discipline?

What if a new match was established to see who shoots the best "area fire?"

It's a good thing for military situations when you want to spread the bullets around a large area. Two categories would be used; bolt action and semiautomatic rifles plus a two-gun aggregate with one of each. Rifles would be fired from a fixed mount unmoved by human intervention. There would be 10, 20 and 50 shot rapid fire matches.

Whoever shot all their bullets into the largest group would win.

This sounds like what is a common place occurrence at our local range, whenever someone shows up with a new AR or AK.
