New Molot Vepr 7.62x39
I was on the fence about a few guns, could only afford one. I passed on a couple S&W autos (645 and 745). Decided to go for the Vepr since they probably won't be around much longer. I had been wanting one for a while and prices just kept getting higher. A long time ago I had tried to order a Saiga when they were cheap. Still had a mag and scope mount for the Saiga. Waste not want not... A local pawn shop that also sells a few new guns had this on their wall for the last few months. When I heard that Veprs are now banned I decided to make them an offer. Molot I guess has declared bankruptcy and will be absorbed by Kalashnikov. Which means they are now banned along with any Kalashnikov item.
The Vepr has a really nice walnut stock, I don't plan on converting it to look like a traditional AK. I like the look of this. Kind of the "Gentleman's AK" The Saiga magazine I had laying around for the last 15 years does in fact fit. Looks just like the Vepr mags. Have not had a chance to see if it shoots, but It looks like it will. I also ordered 6 more mags from Atlantic. 3 - 5 rounders and 3 - 10 rounders. All are cheap right now, and for range use the shorter mags are much nicer off the bench. The side scope mount fit just fine too. Will put a low power scope on it soon.[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

The stocks have improved a lot in the last ten years. The older
models had crappy, unfinished hardwood, with no checkering. That stock is very nice. |

Nice looking rifle.
Just curious: what is the ring size on the scope mount?

The scope mount is also pretty old. Russian model with 1" rings. Wish it just had a rail, but the rings are part of the mount. Decent quality though.

Nice!
They're great handling and shooting little rifles. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Wow, that is a good looking rifle you got there. Hope she shoots as good as she looks.

Looks like a lovely little baby Dragunov!
I'd still like one in x54 to get rid of the incredible amount of surplus x54 spamies I have. |
