Which one is better?
Which one is better? The Maverick 88, the 870 Express or the Mossberg 500? Looking for a gun for my cousins birthday, but I dont want to sacrifice quality for price.

Ford/Chevy/Dodge.
Get the one that feels best. The 870 may outlast the others, but it will not be in our lifetimes..... |

I have owned both and for me I prefer the 870, feels better. The most notable difference in my opinion is the safety placement, in the trigger guard on the 870, on top of the receiver for the mossy. As one of the previous repliers said the is a chevy/ford/dodge debate.

I prefer the safety position of the 870 versus the safety of the Mossberg. last year when I was trying to make a similar decision as you I went with the Remington 870 Express.
Only negitive thing I heard about the Mossberg is the safety is plastic and is prone to breaking if stessed to much. I've heard there is a metal safety that can be purchased to replace the plastic safety. Hope this helps. |

PENDING - If you want a shotgun you don't mind getting a few scratches or dinks on it, then the very reliable Mossberg 500.
The Remington 870 just holds its value better, if you decide to sell it one day. The Maverick, one of Wal Marts in-expensive best selling shotguns....nuff said.

I think Remington quality has gone to crap since being purchased and from personal experience think Mossberg has horrible customer service. But between the three I would get a 500.
