I liked the P7M8's I had , very accurate with the fixed barrel ,burn your finger a bit, payed alot for them brand new, now wish I still had them , I also had a USP Compact in .45 for a bit, HK makes good guns, not sure what my next HK will be.

Long story short, I'm getting my ccw renewed after letting it lapse some years ago and both my carry pistols aren't what I consider to be reliable so I grabbed a used HK USP 40c (v1 bobbed hammer?) last month at gander mountain (with their sale). Several hundred rounds, no failures for me, but my 14 yr old daughter had a feed problem (her first day shooting, another long story).

I find I shoot the gun low and there's a LOT of travel on that trigger.
Likely bending your wrist down in anticipation of the shot. Likely subconsciously. Try dry firing with snap caps and see where you end up pointing.

I'm back.

No, however I wouldn't mind having one. From everything I have heard, read, and seen, they are excellent pistols.

I've already said that I love HK. They're my favorite manufacturer. But I have one issue that I didn't mention, so I think I will now.

The USP 9 full-size and compact are available, but there isn't a mid-sized gun.

So, I can't always carry the full-sized USP comfortable and I don't like the grip length of the USP 9 Compact as it reminds me more of a Glock 26 than it does a Glock 19.

I wish they made a P228/P229 sized HK USP... But oh well.

I call their Compact their midsize gun... the SK models are there smaller guns.

Even the P2000 (more or less, a USP Compact with improvements) or P30 isn't that big. When you get the longer slide/barrel, then you go into a larger gun

I don't know, Screwball. I know the SK line has come out and all, but I see those as even smaller than the Glock 26.

It's like the Smith and Wesson M&P. They came out with a compact and everyone and their mother were saying "If only it was Glock 19 sized!".

Kind of how I feel about most HK pistols. I pinch myself in the palm by my pink when I do speed reloads on my USP compacts. I've actually sold them and kept the full-sized USPs which as of late, I haven't been carrying too much.

SK pistols are a tiny big bigger then a comparable Glock 26
Compact pistols(USPc, P2000) are damn near Glock 19 dimensions, especially P2000

The P30/VP9 sort of split the difference between a Glock 17 and Glock 19.

EDIT- I just compared a P2000 to a Glock 19.
The Glock has a thinner yet blockier slide
The grip length is as close to identical to not matter
The length is a bit longer in the Glock
The grip is much more comfortable/thin front strap to back strap on the HK for me.
The Glock 19 is a bit smaller owing to the striker system vs the Hammer fired system.

All in all the the P2000 is a hammer fired Glock 19/23.

Could be, but I was alternating firing with other pistols. The others grouped just fine, the HK all shots on the bottom half of the targets. Somewhere I read the HKs use a different sight picture?

Have to admit the HK trigger has a much longer pull than the other pistols I was firing at the time (brand new m&p shield 9mm, all steel tanfoglio eaa witness 10mm full size, bersa thunder 380).

HK uses a dead on hold. Which can definitely take some getting used to. That could be part of the issue. I know that seems to be one of my issues when starting to shoot mine. But as a whole one would be very hard pressed to find a more accurate out of the box pistol than the HKs

I've heard that. Unfortunately, I can't speak from experience first hand on the P2000.

I just know the USPs are so damn tiny in the grip.

My hands aren't that big...Maybe they are? I've always been told they are...

At any rate, the HK 45 Compact was perfect for me but I had to sell it. So if it's anything like the HK 45 Compact, I may love it.

However, the USP 45 Compact is thicker and feels better than the USP 9 Compact did.

I feel like I'm chasing my tail.

I have a 45c, I consider it a .45 caliber P2000 basically.

I will try to take a couple comparison pics if you like.

You must have pretty gigantic hands if the USPc grip is "so damn tiny".

Here are a couple quick comparison pictures between an HK45c and an HK P2000. Both have the pinky extensions to make for an apples to apples conversion, although I normally use the flat floor plate magazine with the P2000.

NOTE the P2000 has the medium back strap installed and the 45c as the smallest on installed (also medium I think)

The HK45c has the 8 round magazine inserted for a more apples to apples comparison. I do have the "elephant foot" 10 rounders as well and although they look a bit strange at first they feel great.

PICTURE 1 - HK P2000 ON TOP OF HK45C
Grip length is almost identical, 45C is a bit longer in the slide.

PICTURE 2 - HK P2000 ON TOP OF HK45C
Grip width is very similar

PICTURE 3 - HK45c SIDE BY SIDE WITH P2000
Here where you can see the width of the 45c being larger front strap to back strap in the grip. This is really the major area you feel it. Slides a little bigger of course as well.

All in all I look at the HK45c as basically a .45 caliber P2000 with a slightly different manual of arms.

Hope this helps.
Chris

Thanks for that comparison! Currently waiting on my HK45c to be added to my permit then I can bring em home to join his big brother HK45. Glad to see the 45c is similar to the P2k should make for a nice ccw

I was thinking of getting a VP9 for when I start competing in 3-gun. Originally, I was considering the Glock 34 for this purpose but I can't fit my finger in the trigger guard comfortably without modifying it. On the other hand (no pun intended), the VP9 just feels... well... perfect. For that, yes, I am an HK fan. Any thoughts on using the VP9 for 3-gun?

If it feels perfect I'd say that's a good start

Currently own two HK pistols. Plan to add at least 12 more over the next few years.
