Reduced Load for .357
Any recommendations for a reduced load for .357. This was recommended to me for use in a pin shoot. I have been reloading 158 gr JHP for use on silouettes. Of course I don't need the same bang at 25 feet that I need at a 100 meters or more. I have some semi wadcutters stashed somewhere They're 158 gr.

Reduced loads for the 357 are called 38 special, you can use any 38 special load in a 357 case. Whether they would have enough punch to do what you want them to do..you will have to try it.

I guess that remains to be seen.
The advice I received was from someone using a 44 mag. |

I loaded up some 357mag rounds with Titegroup and 125gr Ranier HP's. They took pins off of the table okay and recoil wasn't too bad. Not really a reduced load, but not in the same range as a defense load.

I use a mid load for my M19 S&W. It may work for you. It certainly takes the 100 yrd. rams down with ease. L-358429 and 5.5 grs. of 231. Just over 1000 fps. if memory serves.

I have a great reduced load for you. I use Remington 158gr SJHP over 7.5 grains of Unique. I also use CCI Small Pistol primers. More oomph than a 38 Special or 9mm, less than a full house 357. Not only that, but out of my 586, I get 2" groups at 15 yards. |
