Sig P220 Carry Holster Question

Okay I recently picked up a Sig P220 Carry (Commander length P220) and I really like it my question is is there anyone that makes a holster for this gun?

I know it will probably fit in a regular P220 holster but the neat thing is the shortened slide. Why have a holster longer than the gun?

So your standard 220 will fit when you get it.

These days with the cost of good holsters, I try to think ahead and get holsters that will fit more than one gun. With my SIG's I now buy holsters for the railed versions so the older non railed guns will also fit. Same goes for length on certain models. I used to to the same with my 1911's. My Commanders always fit in my Government model holsters. The small difference in barrel length isnt really noticeable until the longer gun wont fit in the holster and you need to spend another $70-125 for a new holster for it.

depending what you need the holster for dictates what kind of holster but I am a big fan of Blackhawk's CQC holster. It fits all the P-22* series handguns(220, 225, 226, 228, 229) both in standard frame and railed varieties.

You may be able to use a holster designed for a P245. They have the same slide length.

I think the 220 carry is only available with a tactical rail, though I could be wrong on that one.

After doing some research it appears that the P220C demensions are very close to the P229 with a Rail on it. I tried a Galco Summer Special knock off at the gunstore and it appears to work....hmmmm

The 220 and the 226 will use the same holster, the 229 may be a little fat and make the holster a little to loose. I have 226R's and 229R's and the 226's are loose in the 229 specific holsters.

The 245 can use the 220's holster, it may not work in reverse(the 220C aside) if the 245's holster has a closed in or restricted bottom. I use my 245 in my 220's holsters without trouble.

Most SIG's dont differ all that much in size between the different models. Usually only a half inch here and there between full size and compact. Your better off just buying holsters for the railed versions of the bigger guns, then older models without the rail, and most of the compacts of the same model, and sometimes others, will always work.

Like I said, if you think ahead a little, you can save yourself some money on holsters. If you have bought one SIG, I'm willing to bet you already have your eye on another. I know this for a fact, mine went rapidly from one to ten and I still have the bug!

Ahhh, I had forgotten about that. Actually, the P220 Carry SAS doesn't have one. But it still irks me that Sig only offers rail versions on a regular basis now, especially since they have to maintain the non-rail frame production lines for the SAS models of the P220, the P220 Carry, the P226, and the P229.

Actually I just checked Sig's website and the only guns that it shows without a rail are the SAS pistols which are coming out of the Custom Shop. All of the newest production P220's, P226's, P229's and P2022's come with rails now I think. Makes me wonder if the SAS editions are a way to use up the non railed frames they have.

it's 2008 now and this thread has jumped years at a time but the 220 sas carry is hear and there is no rail like my other 220's. the dak trig is nice. i like it. i have revolvers that operate on the full let out and the sig's smooth travel takes it to another level. can anyone hear a click in the triggers travel? it works flawlessly but i hear the trigger click when pulled. is it the reset that i hear? love this gun. wow posts from 1999. remember y2k? prince's crappy 1999 song? 200 buck sneakers? those boxy little cadillac's? wow 10 years ago feels like a decade ago...

my mistake , i'll pay more attention next time. i'm looking at the join dates... ford's custom gun refinishing in crystal river fl. does a maticulously good job on removing rails. i think they do all frames but polymer. they are master gun customizers. they have a cxontract with magnum research to finish eagles. they are that good. i had and am having guns done by them. they have a 7 to 10 week turn around but they do each gun like it's thier own... gonna have the rail grinded off my 220 elite stainless. check out thier customer photos. thery do alot of vintage , valuable guns. that says something for the trust people have in thier work. got a hard chromed ber 92 and a beretta px45. gonna send my sas carry for black chrome frame and slide.
