In my experience with the (old model) Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt. Universal and Unique are great propellants.
UV appears to be a bit more energetic than UQ. With UV, 8 ~ 10 grains behind a 250 / 255 cast lead bullet, the accuracy is good and the increase in energy is noticable. with UQ 8 ~ 10 gr behind the same 250 ~ 255 bullet, the accuracy is good and the increase in energy is not so noticable. Now with 10 gr of UV behind a jacketed 250 gr HP, the difference in energy is NOTICEABLE. IMHO, about 10 gr of UV is about the limit for 250 gr bullets. 8.0 is a great .45 Colt load that shoots well and is accurate without being abusive. About 10 grains of UQ is not as energetic and easier to shoot. 8.0 is an old standard .45 Colt load for all time. Accurate, controllable and suitable for use in Colt revolvers. If you choose to go for more energy, then the use of magnum powders & primers is the correct course of action. Roger
