OK... be brutal here... completed my 1st holster... how'd I do ???

OK... I guess technically this is my 2nd holster... the 1st being a leather "knife sheath" designed to fit my NAA mini...

on this one I designed, made the pattern from scratch, incorporated a few more difficult things like the cylinder window, & used Ostrich leg leather over the outside of the front...

I've practiced by modifying a few old holsters, & I like to make them ride higher, & incorporate an "FBI" cant to the holster...

I'm pretty critical of my own work, & can see it's faults, just thought I'd post to show...

my goal here, was for the pattern of the Ostrich leather to hang straight, even though the holster is canted on the belt...

Looks great. I might be a little worried about the cylinder hanging up in that window on a draw. But looks great.

Thanks guys... I was originally worried about the same, but the way the "window" is laced, makes it "snap in & out" nicely... I was going to put a strap on it, but it's almost perfect, the resistance it takes to come out of the holster right now.... I'll be watching how it wears in... ( was originally going to add a thin piece of aluminum to the top above the window, between the layers of leather, but its quite stiff right now )

Really pretty unique and kinda of old fashion with the wrapped edges. But ditch the window, the holster really is to provide protection for your pistol and the view opens up opportunity for the cylinder to be damaged.

I agree, never seen a rig with a cyclinder window, that's different, but my question is - what gun is that? That isn't exactly what I would expect someone to use as a carry sidearm today.

Thanks guys... The gun is a little S&W 32 S&W spur trigger single action ... it's tight, & shoots great... while admittedly not the optimum CCW gun, I live a pretty low risk lifestyle, & I can shoot it much better than a gun like my NAA mini & the gun is nearly as conceilable...

this was my 1st attempt at a fancier BBQ style holster, hence the window... & though it doesn't protect the cylinder as much as an enclosed holster ( though I doubt I could scratch the cylinder if I dropped it, because of the thickness & multiple layers of leather ) but wasn't designed as really an "everyday" holster... though I'm wearing it again today

Hey MWM,

I truley believe in the "hidden in plain site" concept. I utilize it on a daily basis at work. Ya the HOG is probably my favorite other than the Mirage.

OK... got a little grief about the anemic gun, & the window... I started my next one for my Air Lite L frame S&W in 44 special ( no window this time ) I have a nice canted high ride Galco for the gun, but this will protect more of the gun, & will be one I made... this time I'll be using a medium brown Ostrich leg leather piece... haven't decided if the base leather should be black or the new bottle of brown I bought... not, not doing the window due to critisim, but because this should be a nicer "everyday" holster...

will start a new thread with those pics, probably next week, if I get it finished over the weekend
