Savage O/U ?
My wife has a Savage 24E-DL that her grandfather left her.It is 22 Win magnum over 3" chambered 20 ga.It has a fox engraved on left side with a pheasant on the right, gold color trigger, with selector on hammer.IT has Savage Arms Westfield Mass stamped on the barrel. There is another stamping inside the breech of PE (looks like an E but the top bar of the E appears to curve down like it may have been a B but was stamped incorrectly) Anyone have any history on this gun or approx. value? Bluing is aprox. 85 to 90% the wood is maybe 75% with a few light scratches. It is an excellent shooting little gun. Thanks for any info.

I can't find a listing for a 24E-DL, but the 24D had the game scene that you're describing up until 1974. Blue list one in 90% as being valued at about $250, but the 22mags bring a 20% premium over that. Sounds like your's might be a little fancier species.

I have the exact same shotgun that my uncle gave me back in the 60's. you described mine exactly. i never could find a serial number other than some numbers inside the receiver. i hunt turkeys with it and have taken 3 with it using 3 inch 20 gauge magnum with number 2 shot. it shoots great.
certainly not my main shotgun but fun nonetheless. i would value it around 250 dollars also. |
