win. 30/30 lever problem
I have a pre64 win mod 94 30/30, sometimes when I shoot the lever pops open slightly. anybody know why? what might be the fix?

The lever plunger could be worn, or it may have a weak spring.
You may also be gripping the gun's wrist area loosely enough to bang your hand against the inside of the lever under recoil. Denis |

Define "slightly". Does the breech open? Does the locking bolt drop down?
It's hard to diagnose without more complete symptoms. |

I don't think you have a problem. Sounds normal to me.

Yeah, the lever is mostly being held closed, during firing and recoil, by hand pressure against the stock.
The plunger mostly holds it closed otherwise. Sounds like kind of normal. In other words, get a good grip on it. You know, like John Wayne and the Rifleman.

thanx for the info. by slightly the lever moves about an 1/8 inch and breech moves back maybe an 1/16. love this gun and just don't want to ruin it!
