I'm considering buying a Remington 870, serial number:

A423626M

Can you tell me when it was manufactured?

Try Remington customer service. They have an 800 telephone number posted on their website. They may be able to tell you the year of manufacture over the telephone.

There's a code on the left side of the barrel that will give the month and year of manufacture. I posted part of the chart from the Blue Book earlier...

Post the code if that doesn't cover it. I'll check back.

If I found the right code (left side of the barrel, near the action) its KM.

If I understand your "codebook" correctly, the month in May and the year is either '66 or '92.

Don't know 870's enough to be sure, but its either a very well cared for '66, or an average '92. Probably an average '92.

Good enough.
