I just bought a Wolff mainspring for my K-frame (m66). I got the old one out, but I can't for the life of me get the new one in. Any tips or suggestions?

The mainspring a flat leaf type spring which shouldn't present any problems in installing or deinstalling. There's a screw at the bottom of the grip. Loosen all the way. Insert the mainspring and hook it up to the stirrup on the hammer. Now, tighten the screw on the grip all the way down. That should do it - unless you mean some other spring?

You do need to bend the spring a bit by hand to make it "short" enough to hook on the hammer stirrup thingy (whatever it's called).
I like to put the tension screw in a tiny bit, then slide the spring into its seat and bend it back to the hammer. Trigger return springs are a bit more tricky. |
