I've been looking at the cast bullets post and I'm fixin to order some cast bullets for my .45's [wheel guns] Which shape for hunting, Round nose, round nose flat point, or semi wad cutter ? I'm lookin at the 250 or 255gr depending on the company. What do ya'll think?

I think you will do well with the 250-255 cast bullet for hunting. I have heard very good feedback on 255 grain Keith SWC, but have not tried them.
I prefer a 300 gr LTCFP bullet which has surpring ability to put down deer sized animals.

I don't hunt. So for me, the cheapest 250/255 L is what I use. They all shoot accurately enough.
But for you, what you use is going to depend on what revolver you plan to use it in, and what you are hunting. If you are loading for a Colt SAA, you are stuck with mild loads. If you are loading for a Redhawk, go for the heaviest bullet and the most powerful loads you can handle. Assuming you are not hunting fruit flies or bunny rabbits. |

Kendo,
I would suggest, getting an opinion from Mike, he not only make the best cast bullets I have used, but is an avid shooter/hunter as well. Great prices on his lead also. www.mastercastbullets.com Give Mike a phone call! Regards, SN |

I hot-loaded 255 gr .452 SWC slugs in .45 Super brass for use in my 625 if I ever got to grizz stomping grounds. shot a few 'practice' rounds defintely some 'whomp'.
shootingnut has good advice about Mike. all the slugs I've bought from him shoot great and he seems to know his biz. |
