Did not think anyone would remember that flic. It had the two outer blades that would shoot leaving the permanent center blade. Weird movie when you watch it now, cool when I was a kid.

Quad blade.
Two outside blades that could be "fired" at a distance, a single fixed center blade, and a backup dagger blade in the hilt.
There were a lot of silly things in that flick, the sword not the least, but it was fun. (anyone see Independence Day?

There are several I have not seen mentioned that stand out in my memory.

1. The Coonan used by Burt Rennolds (do not remember the name of the movie at this time.)

2. Han Solo's blaster in Star Wars.

3. The move "I Come In Peace" an alien guy had a hand held weapon that launced disc that looked like CD's. They were magnetigly attracted to humans, and would fire, then return to the gun.

4 Big John with Jimmie Dean. The Gator shotgun. Had 4 barrels that fired at once. His sidekick says to him "I don't think that thing is legal to use in law enforcement anymore." Jimmie Dean replies "I don't think it ever was."

5. The magnetic impulse rifle used in Demolition Man by Simon Peonix.

If my wish could make all the paperwork kosher :

M-79 with 500 rounds of HE and 200 rounds of 00-buck.

On a practice range using one of these babies I put an HE round right between the seat of a Jeep carcass out at about 150 meters. That was a feeling I'll never forget.

I would have to say the Morita Assault Rifle from Starship Troopers... A bullpup design with under slung shotgun... Can't ask for much more in a military stage then the versatility this offers. Can you imagine how much the insurgents would hate that as they don't seem to like shotguns?

The Starship trooper gun was a piece of crap. First, it was a full auto Mini-14 and a shotgun.

It had minimal stopping power for the Bugs and that's why the trooper had their butts kicked in the invasion of Klendathu (sp?).

Today, you can get a shotgun to attach to an M-4 or M-16, so that's a future gun?

In the book, the MI were a zillion times more powerful. Also the bugs were just as techy as the Federation.

Okay, Starship Trooper rant over. An atrocity done to the book.

I'm not gonn argue on than Glenn, the prop weapon was rather blah, but the concept is a good start and it would be more effective on us than it ever was on space bugs... Lol I stopped looking for logic in movies long ago, and just enjoy them now...

I liked the Sterling submachine guns, that were used by the storm troopers and the rebels in the first Star Wars movie. The Sterling's had their stocks folded, magazines removed and were outfitted with a small telescopic sight mounted on top.

The Sterling --- L2A3 --- is one of the most reliable and expensively produced, submachine gun ever made.

I am a proud owner of a Sterling semi auto Type 2 carbine, that comes with a side mounted 32 round magazine in 9mm.

It's still a great flick for sword and sorcery. And the sequel that was mentioned at the end of it-Talon will return in Tales of the Ancient Empire actually came to fruition just a few years ago, and even had Lee Horsley doing a cameo, the old fart. But, it sucked badly.
